About Kristina "Nekyia" Cañizares, CSCS

Kristina "Nekyia" Cañizares is a Los Angeles-based flexibility and mobility coach and personal trainer with almost 20 years of experience helping people unlock their body's potential.

After a performing arts career as a contortionist and dancer, Kristina turned her knowledge of movement into a coaching practice unlike any other — one rooted in the kinesiology and neurology of how mobility actually works, not just stretching harder and hoping for the best.

She is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a BASI-certified Pilates instructor.

Who Are Kristina's Clients

Kristina has coached thousands of people through personal training, group classes, workshops, and her popular YouTube Channel.

In Los Angeles she works with individuals navigating mobility challenges including hypermobility syndrome, chronic tightness, persistent pain, injury recovery, and prolonged immobility. She coaches the industry's top performers — musicians, actors, dancers, aerialists, pole competitors, stunt artists, and martial artists.

Specialty Training for the World's Top Musicians

In 2017 Kristina began working with then 15-year-old artist Billie Eilish as her personal trainer. She has worked with Billie  both in the gym and on the road, including joining her for the Happier Than Ever and Hit Me Hard and Soft world tours.

Billie has credited Kristina with helping her understand her own hypermobility.

Kristina has worked with many other musicians on injury prevention, tour prep, singing mechanics, and strength training for the challenging, repetitive stress of playing an instrument.

Kristina's Clients Have Good Things to Say

Boy was I in a world of pain when I finally made my way to Kristina. I couldn’t sit, couldn’t stand, couldn’t drive, couldn’t walk and for an active touring musician, it was terrifying. Within 3 zoom sessions with Kristina, my pain was reduced by 85 percent and just got better day after day from that point onward. I’ve referred so many friends to her and it is so comforting to know that if I ever find myself in that place again, I know exactly where to go. I call her the body whisperer. It’s truly the only way to explain her crazy magic.

I came to Kristina after trying chiropractic, acupuncture and at least 5 physical therapists. For years they had been squinting and guessing at what might be the problem with my shoulder. Within minutes, Kristina had isolated the issue. I could see right away that she had both an intuitive and technical knowledge of the human body

I won't lie, it has not been an easy road. I came to Kristina with years of injury and misuse exacerbated by weight lifting. But I stopped guessing and I started getting steady results. Yes, I'm in better shape. But I can't express how much better my body just works

I have worked with Kristina for many years. She has an incredibly studied knowledge of how bodies move and heal from injury. Her experience as a performer uniquely qualifies her to work with musicians, as she deeply understands the challenges we face in trying to stay fit and healthy in a lifestyle and profession that make that extremely difficult.

She really helped me to connect mind and body and met me where I was when I was dealing with persistent back pain. I feel so much safer and more confident in my fitness training because of Kristina’s teachings.

Too many people approach bendiness from a static stretching perspective and all it does is leave you stiff and achy. Kristina thoroughly warmed up our bodies and guided us through a full body bending session that left me feeling fluidly mobile and gooey. Her cues are golden and I she definitely has the power to make anyone feel like a rockstar bend-er.

Kristina has a magical way of presenting information. I have heard the "Shoulder Girdle Speech" a hundred times and it never clicked so deeply as it did when she guided us through exercises in between lecture. I could see so many light bulbs going off in my student's heads. I'm excited for the possibilities that this level of information will open up.

Amy Tynan

Aerialist & Coach

In early 2014 I was preparing for my first pole competition. I was 52 and felt that I needed to be more flexible for the competition, so I started having private lessons with Kristina. She is very knowledgeable. She taught me the right way to stretch and how a strong muscle is important for flexibility. Her way of teaching is gentle but effective. I can see the improvements and never felt it was a torture to do flexibility training.

It's been more then two years training with Kristina. I'm looking forward to continue the Fit & Bendy journey with her for a very long time.

North American Pole Dance Competition Gold Medalist

I have been working with Kristina for upwards of a year now, with a focus on strength and mobility as they pertain to endurance running.

Kristina is, effectively, a physical therapist, podiatrist, personal trainer, and Pilates instructor all wrapped into one. I’ve worked with a dozen well-qualified trainers and Kristina’s attention to detail, knowledge of biomechanics, eye for correct form, and personal involvement in an athlete’s improvement have been second to none.

I consider working with Kristina to be an essential requirement for any endurance athlete interested in staying proactive about injury prevention and increasing their economy of motion.
